Hypoglycaemia and Ketonaemia Another useful classification of hypoglycaemic conditions is into those that are, and those that are not, associated with ketonaemia (plasma p-hydroxybutyrate levels greater than 600µmol/l). Most types of hypoglycaemia, apart from those due to endogenous or exogenous hyperinsulinism, autoimmune hypoglycaemia, or IGF2-secreting tumours, are accompanied by mild-to-moderate ketonaemia.
